The marathon effect.
Running marathons is not about running marathons.
It’s about unblocking something much more valuable than any medal — the belief that you can do anything.
Because sometime along the way we grew to believe we were limited in our potential. Life conditioned us to certain parameters and modern culture placed us inside a box. And no matter what we do, we all somehow end up leaning towards similar journeys… in education, careers, and essentially, our lives. The same story told in multiple different genres.
That wasn’t always the case. When we’re children, we feel limitless. Nothing is unthinkable. And dreams are big.
But the natural behavior of a human being is to slowly conform to social norms, take the safe route, and channel those youthful dreams into something more ‘feasible’.
And as we transit through life we can’t help but wonder what could’ve been. What if we had followed our dreams? What if we’d been like one of those outliers, standing out from the rest of us?
Most of us will probably carry that feeling all the way to the grave. Because life gets in the way of the uncomfortable challenges that turn those dreams into realities.
But seeing a marathon to completion can create a massive shift in our conditioned minds.
Why?
